Romney is screwed. When you go on TV and demand an apology, you’re screwed. Romney said it himself the other day, “if you’re responding, you’re losing.” Now the guy who named his I’m-running-for-president book No Apologies is demanding an apology.
How can you tell Romney is screwed and knows he is screwed? For the first time in months, he has agreed to a non-Fox News interview. In fact, he’s done several today. Why? Because he knows he’s screwed.
Check out this paragraph from ABC News on the interview they conducted with Mr. Etch-a-Sketch and tell me that this wasn’t written by the staff writers at the Onion.
Romney insisted that he abandoned the private-equity firm he founded to run the Olympics and that, after 1999, he had “no role whatsoever in the management” of Bain even though SEC documents listed him as president, chairman of the board and sole stockholder.
So screwed.
He’s doing the only thing he can. Deny. Deny. Deny. It worked for the Iraq war and WMDs. It’ll easily work for this.
