In case you missed it, and I’m sure you haven’t, Mitt Romney has been attacking President Obama over his recent decision to require religious groups that provide health insurance coverage to employees to cover contraception.
“Just this last week, this same administration said that in churches and the institutions they run, such as schools and let’s say adoption agencies, hospitals, that they have to provide for their employees, free of charge, contraceptives, morning-after pills — in other words abortive pills and the like at no cost,” Mr. Romney said. “Think what that does to people in faiths without sharing those views. This is a violation of conscience.”
Yes, yes, par for the course, and Romney is basically parroting the attacks of Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich here. But wait, this couldn’t possibly be yet another example of Mitt Romney being a hypocrite, could it?
Oh, of course it is.
BOSTON, December 9, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – In a shocking turn-around, Massachusetts’s governor Mitt Romney announced yesterday that Roman Catholic and other private hospitals in the state will be forced to offer emergency contraception to sexual assault victims under new state legislation, regardless of the hospitals’ moral position on the issue.
Romney really is employing a deviously brilliant strategy here. Just be so shamelessly and openly hypocritical that everybody’s brains just refuse to process any more examples of it. There really is no action or position that this man has done or taken that he won’t pretend never happened, regardless of evidence, if he thinks it might benefit him politically.
