More facts with regard to the contraception mandate debate

I covered most of the basics back here, but a couple of points I forgot:

  • Teen pregnancy has been driven to a 30-year low, partially because of increased use of contraception.
  • 28 states currently have laws on their books mandating the inclusion of contraception coverage for employers.
  • Of those 28 states, 8 states (Georgia, Iowa, Wisconsin, Colorado, Montana, Washington, Vermont, and New Hampshire) don’t have exemptions for churches, like the Obama regulation mandates.

This means that the Obama administration is actually providing more religious freedom to churches in 8 states than they currently have now.

This is not a debate about religious freedom.  Newt Gingrich doesn’t really think that this is the “most outrageous assault on religious freedom in American history” unless he also thinks his home state of Georgia is a godless dictatorship.

This is all about the Republican party flailing about wildly looking for anything negative to say about Barack Obama.  Anything will do.

And while we are on the subject, since I have numerous friends and family members who pray for me regularly due to my godless support of the Pro-Choice Democratic Party.  If you don’t support making sure that every woman and teenage girl in America has equal access to contraception, then you’re not allowed to call yourself Pro-Life around me anymore.  Just don’t do it.

This is what access to contraception means:

I’m just absolutely disgusted by the hypocrisy on this issue.
