Sometimes I just don’t hate my brain enough

So I was going to try to write something about the latest right-wing faux outrage regarding the president. You see, the story of Seamus just won’t go away and the Romney campaign and the candidate himself is getting pretty annoyed by it.

When he sat down with ABC’s Diane Sawyer she asked him about the decision to put his dog in a kennel strapped to the roof of his car and drive for 12 hours.

DIANE SAWYER: As we move away from this primary campaign into the next phase — again, on Yahoo, we got two questions most often, first about Seamus — which as you know is out there forever — would you do it again?

MITT ROMNEY: Certainly not with the attention it’s received.  I’m running for office for Pete’s sake!

(Ed. note: bolded sentence added for clarity/hilarity, inspired by this, obviously.)

Via LittleGreenFootballs, someone created this video of what it would be like strapped to a kennel on the roof of a car on the freeway.

Even Mitt’s wife Ann has weighed in on the controversy, informing Sawyer that Seamus loved the car trips. So there was more than one trip? Apparently so, but Ann’s point was that the problem with that one trip was that poor Seamus had eaten a turkey and “had the runs.” Charming.

Anyway, none of this is going the way Mitt wanted, and so the right wing has sprung to his defense, by pointing out that Obama once ate dog meat. When he was six. Because his stepfather fed it to him. When he was six.

In wingnuttopia, this is exactly the same thing (no, worse) as a grown man strapping a dog to the roof of his car and driving for 12 hours.

Anyway, as I was saying, I was going to write about all this (well, I guess I have, but I was going to write more about this) and so I started looking at some of those rightwing blogs, and… I’m sorry. I just can’t do it today. Yes, I hate my brain, but no I don’t hate it that much.

Here’s a Google Search link. I implore you not to read too much, unless you hate your brain even more than I hate my own, which is probably impossible.

I’m taking my brain to Legoland with my kids for a much-needed break from the stupidity of online and media conservatives. Our dog will spend the day on the couch.
